Georgia climate
Georgia roofs face specific climate stressors — humid subtropical conditions plus hail damage and wind uplift — that demand different specs than the state next door. Your assigned roofing contractor calibrates material, ventilation, and underlayment to local code and weather load.
| Metric | Georgia average | Implication for your roof |
|---|---|---|
| Average annual snowfall | 2″ | Minimal snow load; standard synthetic underlayment is sufficient. |
| Average annual rainfall | 50″ | Drip-edge + valley flashing critical; gutter sizing should match high-volume runoff. |
| Hail risk | high | Class 4 impact-rated shingles qualify for hail-discount endorsements in Georgia. |
| Hurricane / coastal wind | Yes — coastal counties | 130 mph wind-rated shingles + ring-shank nails for FORTIFIED Roof eligibility. |
For most Georgia homes, architectural shingle and metal panel are the two most-installed systems. Asphalt shingles remain the most affordable roofing option; standing-seam metal is the longest-lasting (40–70 years).
Roofing services
Roof-Master Georgia installs and repairs every residential roof system — architectural shingle re-roofs, standing-seam metal, hail/wind storm restoration, leak repair, gutter installation, and Class 4 impact-rated upgrades — same network across all 169 Georgia cities.
| Service | Typical SLA | Most-requested in |
|---|---|---|
| Free roof inspection | Same week | Statewide Georgia |
| Storm-damage assessment + tarp | 24–48h | Atlanta, Augusta |
| Roof repair (leaks, missing shingles, flashing) | 2–3 business days | Statewide Georgia |
| Full re-roof (architectural shingle) | 1–3 days on-site | Statewide Georgia |
| Standing-seam metal roof installation | 3–5 days on-site | Rural / agricultural areas |
| Gutter installation + gutter-guard upgrades | 1 day | Statewide Georgia |

"I had a very positive experience with Platinum Roofing throughout the entire project. From the initial discussions through completion, their team was helpful, responsive, and easy to work with. The crew delivered excellent workmanship, and the quality of the finished work was clear. Allen and Cory made sure every question we had was addressed and kept us informed along the way. Their pricing was also right where we expected it to be, offering strong value for the level of service and results provided. I would highly recommend them to others seeking dependable roofing services. They also made sure the clean up left nothing in the yard or flower beds."

"Ben, Allen & the crew were very efficient & courteous. They did a great job along with cleaning up afterwards. Our neighbor even called us to comment how great it looked & was impressed with how quick they tore off the old roof & put on the new, which was about 5-6 hours."

"Platinum Roofing did an amazing job from start to finish. They worked seamlessly with both me and my tenant to get the roof repaired quickly and professionally. Ben was a true superstar. He stayed in constant communication, kept me informed every step of the way, and even showed up during the insurance inspection to make sure all damage was properly identified and reported. It’s rare to find a company this honest, reliable, and dedicated to quality work. I highly recommend Platinum Roofing to anyone in need of roof repairs or replacements."

"Cannon is a great company for not only a new roof but also for service after the sale. We bought our roof in 2021 and Cannon came out 4 years later to fix a rubber plumbing vent on the roof within a day of me calling them. Great company with great customer service!"

"We were so pleased with Cannon Roofing Company! After Hurricane Helene, we lost so many shingles that we needed a new roof. Micah brought his crew as soon as we received the go-ahead from our insurance company. They replaced every shingle, as well as a few other damaged spots in the gables, in ONE DAY. They cleaned up after themselves so well, there was barely a nail left in the grass anywhere. It was amazing! They were polite and professional in every interaction we had. We highly recommend this company!"

Before any contractor joins our Georgia network we pull and verify:
Our regional ops team re-verifies every contractor's documentation every 12 months. We remove any contractor who fails re-verification from the network within 30 days. Network contractors are independent businesses, not employees of RoofPros USA.

If more than 25% of your shingles show storm damage, granule loss, lifting, or curling, full replacement usually beats patch repair on lifecycle cost. Georgia insurance carriers also use this threshold — once 25% of a roof slope is damaged by a covered peril, most policies pay to replace the entire slope rather than repair it. The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) treats 25% as the standard repair-vs-replace inflection point.
For a typical 2,000 sq ft (≈22-square) Georgia home with architectural shingle, plan on $12,600 including tear-off, decking inspection, ice-and-water shield, drip edge, and a manufacturer-registered warranty. Standing-seam metal runs roughly 2–3× that figure but lasts 40–70 years. Repair-only jobs run $380–$1,800 with $1,100 the average roofing-repair-project spend.
Five red flags every Georgia homeowner should watch for: (1) door-knockers showing up after a storm with no local address, (2) demands for full payment upfront — standard deposit is 25–30% with the balance due after final inspection, (3) no written, itemized estimate with named materials and brand, (4) verbal "guarantee" instead of a written manufacturer + workmanship warranty, and (5) no proof of $1M+ general liability insurance and workers compensation. Always verify the contractor in your state's online registry and the BBB before signing.
Late winter through early spring (typically February–April) is the cheapest time to schedule a Georgia roof replacement. Demand is lowest, crews have open calendars, and contractors often discount 5–15%. Avoid the August–October peak when storm-damage claims spike. Schedule before hail season starts in your area. Emergency repairs are available year-round.
Georgia issues residential and commercial general contractor licenses through the Secretary of State; specialty roofing exempt under $2,500.
Given Georgia's humid subtropical climate, the most popular choices are architectural shingle, metal panel, concrete tile. Local building practices, hail and wind risk, and snow load all factor in — your assigned local roofing contractor recommends the right system after a free inspection.
hail damage is the leading roof issue in Georgia, followed by wind uplift and mold + algae. Hail damage is a major insurance-claim driver here — Class 4 impact shingles are widely recommended.
Most Georgia homeowners get a written, itemized quote within one business hour of submitting our online form. Your assigned roofing professional schedules an in-home inspection within 2–3 business days, and active leaks get same-day emergency tarping in major metros.
On average, it costs between $8,000 and $20,000 to replace a roof in Georgia, with most homeowners spending around $12,000 to replace a 2,000 sq. ft.
The 25% Rule in roofing serves as a guideline for both homeowners and contractors when planning roofing projects. Basically, it means that if more than 25% of your roof's surface needs repairs, it's often wiser to contemplate a full replacement rather than patchwork.
Fall is considered the best time to schedule a roofing project because it often boasts the best temperature range for roof installation. The weather has cooled off from summer highs, but it hasn't gotten too cold yet.
Roof-Master matches you with a vetted Georgia licensed contractor in your zip within minutes.
