Ohio climate
Ohio roofs face specific climate stressors — humid continental conditions plus hail damage and wind uplift — that demand different specs than the state next door. Your assigned roofing contractor calibrates material, ventilation, and underlayment to local code and weather load.
| Metric | Ohio average | Implication for your roof |
|---|---|---|
| Average annual snowfall | 28″ | Ice-and-water shield in eaves recommended; standard underlayment elsewhere. |
| Average annual rainfall | 39″ | Standard drip-edge + sealed valleys per IRC R905. |
| Hail risk | high | Class 4 impact-rated shingles qualify for hail-discount endorsements in Ohio. |
| Hurricane / coastal wind | No | Standard wind-rated shingles (110 mph) cover inland conditions. |
For most Ohio homes, architectural shingle and standing-seam metal are the two most-installed systems. Asphalt shingles remain the most affordable roofing option; standing-seam metal is the longest-lasting (40–70 years).
Roofing services
Roof-Master Ohio installs and repairs every residential roof system — architectural shingle re-roofs, standing-seam metal, hail/wind storm restoration, leak repair, gutter installation, and Class 4 impact-rated upgrades — same network across all 292 Ohio cities.
| Service | Typical SLA | Most-requested in |
|---|---|---|
| Free roof inspection | Same week | Statewide Ohio |
| Storm-damage assessment + tarp | 24–48h | Cincinnati, Cleveland |
| Roof repair (leaks, missing shingles, flashing) | 2–3 business days | Statewide Ohio |
| Full re-roof (architectural shingle) | 1–3 days on-site | Statewide Ohio |
| Standing-seam metal roof installation | 3–5 days on-site | Rural / agricultural areas |
| Gutter installation + gutter-guard upgrades | 1 day | Statewide Ohio |

"I had David from Ratliff come out for estimates and truly appreciated his thoroughness and honesty the whole time, never trying to upsell me and giving me great prices. I decided to go with them for new gutters and downspouts and the experience was flawless. They were patient with me as I kept delaying the date and when the date came, the installer arrived on time and did a great concise job pretty quickly. Now after a few rains, the gutters function perfectly and complement my home's exterior. Great communication throughout the project and fair pricing. Would absolutely use them again! 5/5 stars."

"We believe improper gutter/slip flashing/drip edge installation by Ratliff caused significant water damage to our home. As shown in the attached video, water was able to flow down between the gutter and the fascia instead of all going into the gutters. Gutters were free of debris. The water was only dripping down from the backside of the gutter, not the front, showing they were not clogged. The video was taken at the end of a rainstorm when very little water was present. Unfortunately, when it was raining hard, a huge amount of roof water streamed down between the gutter and the fascia. During windy conditions, that water was blown into the seams of our siding and came into the house. The water damaged drywall, insulation, window trim, baseboards, carpet & pad, paint, and underneath the siding materials. We reached out to Ratliff when we realized what was happening was not a roof leak, but a leak through the siding. Dave and Juan from Ratliff came and did a thorough inspection, removing siding and confirming that the water was being blown through the siding. Previous to Dave and Juan’s inspection, our roofers, in a kind effort to help us stop the leak, noticed the misplaced slip flashing/ drip edge and fixed it. Dave noticed that the roofers had done that and put it in his report. We also showed him the attached video of what happened when it rained (before the fix) and that extra water was present to be blown into the siding. After their visit, we were emailed a report and given quotes for Ratliff to do additional paid work - siding repair and/or replacement. There was no offer of restitution. We then responded and requested restitution. We received an email from the owner, Danielle Ratliff, stating that they do not believe they improperly installed the gutters, that an engineer should be hired to assess the leak, and that they stand behind their work. Water should never be leaking between the gutters and fascia. Hiring an engineer to confirm that would be an unnecessary and costly expense on top of the damage repair expenses that they have given us no assurance would be covered by them. So we sent the video again in case Ms. Ratliff had not seen it, and again asked for restitution with no response now for almost 2 weeks. We believe the cause of the leak is very clear, and unfortunately, very clear that Ratliff does not truly take accountability and stand behind their work. Updated to address points made in review response: Dave did explain to us that our house did not have house wrap, and that that was normal since it was not code 30 years ago when our house was built. We have never had a leak until now. Unfortunately, we didn't notice the problem with the gutters until after the gutter warranty period ended. The Ratliff gutter warranty on labor is only 1 year. Again, proper gutter installation would not have allowed water to flow between the gutters and the fascia."

"So very happy with this company. I had gotten three quotes and almost cancelled their appointment. I am so glad I didn't. They were excellent across the board...from the first consultation to the clean up afterward. Great people and a great product!"

"I had such a great experience with Ascent Roofing Solutions. From the very beginning, they made the whole process so easy and stress-free. The team was professional, friendly, and walked me through everything step by step, which I really appreciated. What truly blew me away was how fast they were! They showed up at 7 AM, and by early afternoon, the job was completely done. I couldn’t believe it. The roof comes with both a manufacturer warranty on the shingles and a craftsmanship warranty, so I feel confident knowing it’s built to last. If you’re thinking about getting your roof repaired or replaced, I can’t recommend Ascent Roofing Solutions enough. They did an amazing job, and I’m so glad I went with them."

"This is by far the best roofing/construction company we have ever worked with! We had some minor flashing issues approximately 8 years ago and called Ascent for the first time. They were quick to respond and help us. We thought we may need a new roof or something else. Instead of taking advantage of us they explained what the issue was and, because it ended up being so small, they fixed it at no charge and said just to call them in the future if we had any other issues arise. Lo and behold, 7 years later we had a bad storm come through that ripped a significant amount of shingles off the house, along with other damage. Ascent Roofing Solutions was our first call. We had the roof replaced. Everyone from the Owner on down were amazing to our family. They worked with us and kept us in the loop with every part of the process, from meeting with us and the adjuster to advocating on our behalf, from start through construction to completion and beyond. That brings us to today, well after completion (and we are still thrilled with the job they did). We had an unrelated issue with our dryer vent that exits through our roof. We had tried having a service come look at it and they seemed unable to help. We took a shot and reached out to Ascent just to see if they could advise who we could try to reach out to. Instead of passing us off to someone else we spoke with Aaron and he said he wanted to just come out and take a look at it for us. Not only did he take a look, but solved the issue we were having. He was incredibly knowledgeable and super friendly. We really can't thank him enough!! Awesome work ethic, honesty and integrity, friendly and the cleanest job site my husband (former remodeling contractor) has seen in the roofing industry. You will be a customer for life like we are and cannot recommend enough!"

"I am a commercial property manager and have worked with Ascent on a number of roofing projects. They are a reliable, honest and effective contractor and are great to work with. Brent, Bergin, Lyndon and the rest of their crew are amazing people and I would only let them on my own roof when the time comes. Whether you need a new roof on your home, condo, commercial or rental properties, do yourself a favor and reach out to them for a proposal. Then ask yourself if you want to pay less for an idiot with a pick-up truck and ladder and have a mess to deal with or, work with Ascent, sip your coffee, relax and be worry free."

If more than 25% of your shingles show storm damage, granule loss, lifting, or curling, full replacement usually beats patch repair on lifecycle cost. Ohio insurance carriers also use this threshold — once 25% of a roof slope is damaged by a covered peril, most policies pay to replace the entire slope rather than repair it. The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) treats 25% as the standard repair-vs-replace inflection point.
For a typical 2,000 sq ft (≈22-square) Ohio home with architectural shingle, plan on $12,600 including tear-off, decking inspection, ice-and-water shield, drip edge, and a manufacturer-registered warranty. Standing-seam metal runs roughly 2–3× that figure but lasts 40–70 years. Repair-only jobs run $380–$1,800 with $1,100 the average roofing-repair-project spend.
Five red flags every Ohio homeowner should watch for: (1) door-knockers showing up after a storm with no local address, (2) demands for full payment upfront — standard deposit is 25–30% with the balance due after final inspection, (3) no written, itemized estimate with named materials and brand, (4) verbal "guarantee" instead of a written manufacturer + workmanship warranty, and (5) no proof of $1M+ general liability insurance and workers compensation. Always verify the contractor in your state's online registry and the BBB before signing.
Late winter through early spring (typically February–April) is the cheapest time to schedule a Ohio roof replacement. Demand is lowest, crews have open calendars, and contractors often discount 5–15%. Avoid the August–October peak when storm-damage claims spike. Schedule before hail season starts in your area. Emergency repairs are available year-round.
Ohio licensing is by city. Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Toledo each require their own roofing contractor registration.
Given Ohio's humid continental climate, the most popular choices are architectural shingle, standing-seam metal. Local building practices, hail and wind risk, and snow load all factor in — your assigned local roofing contractor recommends the right system after a free inspection.
hail damage is the leading roof issue in Ohio, followed by wind uplift and ice damming. Hail damage is a major insurance-claim driver here — Class 4 impact shingles are widely recommended.
Most Ohio homeowners get a written, itemized quote within one business hour of submitting our online form. Your assigned roofing professional schedules an in-home inspection within 2–3 business days, and active leaks get same-day emergency tarping in major metros.
For perspective, most Ohio homeowners spend between $6,000 to $12,000 on new roofs. A typical 2,000-square-foot home with quality architectural asphalt shingles costs approximately $7,500. However, premium materials like slate can push costs up to $60,000 for identical dimensions.
Fall is considered the best time to schedule a roofing project because it often boasts the best temperature range for roof installation. The weather has cooled off from summer highs, but it hasn't gotten too cold yet.
Average Cost of New Roof in the UK On average: National average: £7,000–£8,000 for a 3-bedroom semi-detached house. Range: £5,000–£15,000 for standard properties. High-end: Over £20,000 for larger detached or complex homes.
