Idaho climate
Idaho roofs face specific climate stressors — semi-arid to alpine conditions plus snow load and ice damming — that demand different specs than the state next door. Your assigned roofing contractor calibrates material, ventilation, and underlayment to local code and weather load.
| Metric | Idaho average | Implication for your roof |
|---|---|---|
| Average annual snowfall | 22″ | Ice-and-water shield in eaves recommended; standard underlayment elsewhere. |
| Average annual rainfall | 19″ | Standard drip-edge + sealed valleys per IRC R905. |
| Hail risk | moderate | Architectural shingles with sealed strips handle most Idaho weather. |
| Hurricane / coastal wind | No | Standard wind-rated shingles (110 mph) cover inland conditions. |
For most Idaho homes, architectural shingle and standing-seam metal are the two most-installed systems. Asphalt shingles remain the most affordable roofing option; standing-seam metal is the longest-lasting (40–70 years).
Roofing services
Roof-Master Idaho installs and repairs every residential roof system — architectural shingle re-roofs, standing-seam metal, hail/wind storm restoration, leak repair, gutter installation, and Class 4 impact-rated upgrades — same network across all 36 Idaho cities.
| Service | Typical SLA | Most-requested in |
|---|---|---|
| Free roof inspection | Same week | Statewide Idaho |
| Storm-damage assessment + tarp | 24–48h | Boise, Nampa |
| Roof repair (leaks, missing shingles, flashing) | 2–3 business days | Statewide Idaho |
| Full re-roof (architectural shingle) | 1–3 days on-site | Statewide Idaho |
| Standing-seam metal roof installation | 3–5 days on-site | Rural / agricultural areas |
| Gutter installation + gutter-guard upgrades | 1 day | Statewide Idaho |
Each service has a dedicated page with pricing, named materials (GAF Timberline HDZ, CertainTeed Landmark, Owens Corning Duration), per-service FAQs, and a licensed local pro for every Idaho zip code.

"Northwest Roof Restoration was recommended to us by our real estate agent to fix a small inspection issue on our roof. Chad responded right away to my call and was very knowledgeable and helpful. They came over to our house very quickly even though it was a small job. The crew that did the work was very friendly, professional and they did an excellent job. The price was very, very reasonable...especially considering how easy they made the whole process. I would recommend Northwest Roof Restoration and will definitely be a return customer!"

"I met Chad and Levi several years ago, and I must say it has been a blessing knowing them. At the time my roof had leaked and I needed to have a new roof on my house. After getting several quotes, I made the decision to hire Northwest Roof Restoration, I have never regretted that decision. From the start to the finish of the project everything went very well. Time frames were kept as promised, cost was very reasonable, and they offered a time payment plan, which I really appreciated. Their selection of products gave me options, which I also appreciated. I have had my new roof now going on 5 years, and no issues at all. I have called Chad a couple of times, to check after a serious storm to make sure all is well up on the roof, and he has no problem with coming out and giving me peace of mind by checking the roof. I also just recently had some new electrical work added to my house, so needed to call and have the guys from Northwest stop by to work with the electrician as part of it was being done on the roof. These guys are the best and will never let you down, they are honest dependable people, and take very good care of their customers. A new roof is an expense you don't take lightly, if you use Northwest, you won't be disappointed. Sophie Jenni"

"Best in Town! You won't find GREAT people like Chad (Owner) and his crews of roofers in town. Thy were nice, clean, professional and efficient. I was selling my house and the NW Roof Restoration was hired by Buyer, with couple of concerns, I as a seller agreed to fix the issues and get it done. Like every other home owners, "if it ain't broken, why fix it" was my thought because I am selling. At the end of it, Chad took time to explain to me why it needed fixing and worked with me to get it done properly. By the way, my roof was only 5 years old and it had life time warranty on it. But, original roofer didn't do it right and won't come back to fix it.... to sum it up; YES Northwest Roof Restoration is very PICKY! But, when in comes to consumer, that is what we want; quality and knowledge. So, I just wanted to make sure that everyone know how great Chad and his crews are. Plus, NW Roof gave my home buyer a transferable warranty. Price was great and workmanship was awesome!"

If more than 25% of your shingles show storm damage, granule loss, lifting, or curling, full replacement usually beats patch repair on lifecycle cost. Idaho insurance carriers also use this threshold — once 25% of a roof slope is damaged by a covered peril, most policies pay to replace the entire slope rather than repair it. The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) treats 25% as the standard repair-vs-replace inflection point.
For a typical 2,000 sq ft (≈22-square) Idaho home with architectural shingle, plan on $11,400 including tear-off, decking inspection, ice-and-water shield, drip edge, and a manufacturer-registered warranty. Standing-seam metal runs roughly 2–3× that figure but lasts 40–70 years. Repair-only jobs run $380–$1,800 with $1,100 the average roofing-repair-project spend.
Five red flags every Idaho homeowner should watch for: (1) door-knockers showing up after a storm with no local address, (2) demands for full payment upfront — standard deposit is 25–30% with the balance due after final inspection, (3) no written, itemized estimate with named materials and brand, (4) verbal "guarantee" instead of a written manufacturer + workmanship warranty, and (5) no proof of $1M+ general liability insurance and workers compensation. Always verify the contractor in your state's online registry and the BBB before signing.
Late winter through early spring (typically February–April) is the cheapest time to schedule a Idaho roof replacement. Demand is lowest, crews have open calendars, and contractors often discount 5–15%. Avoid the August–October peak when storm-damage claims spike. Emergency repairs are available year-round.
Idaho requires registration with the Idaho Contractors Board for any work over $2,000.
Given Idaho's semi-arid to alpine climate, the most popular choices are architectural shingle, standing-seam metal. Local building practices, hail and wind risk, and snow load all factor in — your assigned local roofing contractor recommends the right system after a free inspection.
snow load is the leading roof issue in Idaho, followed by ice damming and wind uplift.
Most Idaho homeowners get a written, itemized quote within one business hour of submitting our online form. Your assigned roofing professional schedules an in-home inspection within 2–3 business days, and active leaks get same-day emergency tarping in major metros.
Roof-Master matches you with a vetted Idaho licensed contractor in your zip within minutes.
