Missouri climate
Missouri roofs face specific climate stressors — humid continental to subtropical conditions plus hail damage and tornado wind — that demand different specs than the state next door. Your assigned roofing contractor calibrates material, ventilation, and underlayment to local code and weather load.
| Metric | Missouri average | Implication for your roof |
|---|---|---|
| Average annual snowfall | 18″ | Ice-and-water shield in eaves recommended; standard underlayment elsewhere. |
| Average annual rainfall | 42″ | Standard drip-edge + sealed valleys per IRC R905. |
| Hail risk | severe | Class 4 impact-rated shingles cut insurance premiums 5–35% in Missouri. |
| Hurricane / coastal wind | No | Standard wind-rated shingles (110 mph) cover inland conditions. |
For most Missouri homes, Class 4 impact shingle and standing-seam metal are the two most-installed systems. Asphalt shingles remain the most affordable roofing option; standing-seam metal is the longest-lasting (40–70 years).
Roofing services
Roof-Master Missouri installs and repairs every residential roof system — architectural shingle re-roofs, standing-seam metal, hail/wind storm restoration, leak repair, gutter installation, and Class 4 impact-rated upgrades — same network across all 144 Missouri cities.
| Service | Typical SLA | Most-requested in |
|---|---|---|
| Free roof inspection | Same week | Statewide Missouri |
| Storm-damage assessment + tarp | 24–48h | St. Louis, Kansas City |
| Roof repair (leaks, missing shingles, flashing) | 2–3 business days | Statewide Missouri |
| Full re-roof (architectural shingle) | 1–3 days on-site | Statewide Missouri |
| Standing-seam metal roof installation | 3–5 days on-site | Rural / agricultural areas |
| Gutter installation + gutter-guard upgrades | 1 day | Statewide Missouri |

"I had been told by a different company that I would be fine without tarp until they installed my new shingles only to have water damage after it rained later that week. Justin answered the phone at nearly midnight and came out first thing in the morning to cover the roof and then work out a contract with me. Some of the best customer experience I’ve had. The team came out about a week later and knocked out the work in no time. Extremely satisfied."

"Just wanted to say "Thank you" to Justin and his team at Midwest Roofing for doing an excellent job replacing my roofing!! The materials were delivered yesterday and the team showed up at 7:00am and got right to it. Justin messaged me through out the day with updates on how things were going. I got home around 5:30pm and they were finishing some detail work and cleaning everything up. Perfect timing because by 6:15 it was dark. It looks amazing! What do you think? (See photos!) Thanks again to Justin and his team!! I also want to thank Terra, for keeping track of everything, and Colton for stopping by and brokering the process!!"

Before any contractor joins our Missouri network we pull and verify:
Our regional ops team re-verifies every contractor's documentation every 12 months. We remove any contractor who fails re-verification from the network within 30 days. Network contractors are independent businesses, not employees of RoofPros USA.

If more than 25% of your shingles show storm damage, granule loss, lifting, or curling, full replacement usually beats patch repair on lifecycle cost. Missouri insurance carriers also use this threshold — once 25% of a roof slope is damaged by a covered peril, most policies pay to replace the entire slope rather than repair it. The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) treats 25% as the standard repair-vs-replace inflection point.
For a typical 2,000 sq ft (≈22-square) Missouri home with architectural shingle, plan on $13,800 including tear-off, decking inspection, ice-and-water shield, drip edge, and a manufacturer-registered warranty. Standing-seam metal runs roughly 2–3× that figure but lasts 40–70 years. Repair-only jobs run $380–$1,800 with $1,100 the average roofing-repair-project spend.
Five red flags every Missouri homeowner should watch for: (1) door-knockers showing up after a storm with no local address, (2) demands for full payment upfront — standard deposit is 25–30% with the balance due after final inspection, (3) no written, itemized estimate with named materials and brand, (4) verbal "guarantee" instead of a written manufacturer + workmanship warranty, and (5) no proof of $1M+ general liability insurance and workers compensation. Always verify the contractor in your state's online registry and the BBB before signing.
Late winter through early spring (typically February–April) is the cheapest time to schedule a Missouri roof replacement. Demand is lowest, crews have open calendars, and contractors often discount 5–15%. Avoid the August–October peak when storm-damage claims spike. Schedule before hail season starts in your area. Emergency repairs are available year-round.
Missouri licensing is by city. Kansas City, St. Louis, Springfield, and Columbia require local roofing contractor registrations.
Given Missouri's humid continental to subtropical climate, the most popular choices are Class 4 impact shingle, standing-seam metal. Local building practices, hail and wind risk, and snow load all factor in — your assigned local roofing contractor recommends the right system after a free inspection.
hail damage is the leading roof issue in Missouri, followed by tornado wind and ice damming. Hail damage is a major insurance-claim driver here — Class 4 impact shingles are widely recommended.
Most Missouri homeowners get a written, itemized quote within one business hour of submitting our online form. Your assigned roofing professional schedules an in-home inspection within 2–3 business days, and active leaks get same-day emergency tarping in major metros.
The 25% Rule in roofing serves as a guideline for both homeowners and contractors when planning roofing projects. Basically, it means that if more than 25% of your roof's surface needs repairs, it's often wiser to contemplate a full replacement rather than patchwork.
Fall is considered the best time to schedule a roofing project because it often boasts the best temperature range for roof installation. The weather has cooled off from summer highs, but it hasn't gotten too cold yet.
Roof-Master matches you with a vetted Missouri licensed contractor in your zip within minutes.
