Wisconsin climate
Wisconsin roofs face specific climate stressors — humid continental conditions plus ice damming and snow load — that demand different specs than the state next door. Your assigned roofing contractor calibrates material, ventilation, and underlayment to local code and weather load.
| Metric | Wisconsin average | Implication for your roof |
|---|---|---|
| Average annual snowfall | 48″ | Ice-dam underlayment + ice-and-water shield required at eaves and valleys. |
| Average annual rainfall | 33″ | Standard drip-edge + sealed valleys per IRC R905. |
| Hail risk | high | Class 4 impact-rated shingles qualify for hail-discount endorsements in Wisconsin. |
| Hurricane / coastal wind | No | Standard wind-rated shingles (110 mph) cover inland conditions. |
For most Wisconsin homes, architectural shingle and standing-seam metal are the two most-installed systems. Asphalt shingles remain the most affordable roofing option; standing-seam metal is the longest-lasting (40–70 years).
Roofing services
Roof-Master Wisconsin installs and repairs every residential roof system — architectural shingle re-roofs, standing-seam metal, hail/wind storm restoration, leak repair, gutter installation, and Class 4 impact-rated upgrades — same network across all 153 Wisconsin cities.
| Service | Typical SLA | Most-requested in |
|---|---|---|
| Free roof inspection | Same week | Statewide Wisconsin |
| Storm-damage assessment + tarp | 24–48h | Milwaukee, Madison |
| Roof repair (leaks, missing shingles, flashing) | 2–3 business days | Statewide Wisconsin |
| Full re-roof (architectural shingle) | 1–3 days on-site | Statewide Wisconsin |
| Standing-seam metal roof installation | 3–5 days on-site | Rural / agricultural areas |
| Gutter installation + gutter-guard upgrades | 1 day | Statewide Wisconsin |

"When our neighborhood was hit hard with hail in October 2023, almost every home in our neighborhood had roof damage. Being Wisconsin, we had to wait until spring to have the work done. I was extremely pleased with the work Rick and his crew did. Rick worked seamlessly with my homeowners insurance to have the claim covered. He really knew what he was doing, and made that part of the process so easy. His crew arrived promptly when promised. Tear off, installation, and clean up took just over 6 hours. They protected my landscaping and siding during tear off. Clean up was excellent, like they were never there. Very pleased! Feltz Construction has done a number of homes in our neighborhood as a result of the hail storm, and they are all very happy as well. Highly recommend."

"We are very happy with the job Chip and his crew did replacing our roof. The roof looks great. We have a very steep roof and it was no problem for his crew. His communication throughout was excellent. He was at the job site throughout the process. Even his attention to detail in cleaning everything up after and putting flower pots and deck furniture back was beyond our expectations. I would highly recommend Badger Roofing."

"Very impressive, the crew showed up on time and got right to work and stayed at it until it was completed. Mike and Chip stayed on site the whole time insuring everything went smooth beginning to end. The crew was very professional and experienced. Mike explained the process and product information clearly and was so easy to talk with it seemed we knew him our whole life. They cleaned up and left with the only proof they had been here was a great looking new roof."

"Badger Roofing did a great job on my roof! The owner, Chip, is very professional, prompt, attentive to detail and dedicated to a positive customer experience. His crew showed up early and worked hard until the entire project was completed. I have a dog and they took extra care to ensure no roofing nails were left behind and the yard was properly cleaned up. The finished project looks fantastic! Great job!"

Before any contractor joins our Wisconsin network we pull and verify:
Our regional ops team re-verifies every contractor's documentation every 12 months. We remove any contractor who fails re-verification from the network within 30 days. Network contractors are independent businesses, not employees of RoofPros USA.

If more than 25% of your shingles show storm damage, granule loss, lifting, or curling, full replacement usually beats patch repair on lifecycle cost. Wisconsin insurance carriers also use this threshold — once 25% of a roof slope is damaged by a covered peril, most policies pay to replace the entire slope rather than repair it. The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) treats 25% as the standard repair-vs-replace inflection point.
For a typical 2,000 sq ft (≈22-square) Wisconsin home with architectural shingle, plan on $12,600 including tear-off, decking inspection, ice-and-water shield, drip edge, and a manufacturer-registered warranty. Standing-seam metal runs roughly 2–3× that figure but lasts 40–70 years. Repair-only jobs run $380–$1,800 with $1,100 the average roofing-repair-project spend.
Five red flags every Wisconsin homeowner should watch for: (1) door-knockers showing up after a storm with no local address, (2) demands for full payment upfront — standard deposit is 25–30% with the balance due after final inspection, (3) no written, itemized estimate with named materials and brand, (4) verbal "guarantee" instead of a written manufacturer + workmanship warranty, and (5) no proof of $1M+ general liability insurance and workers compensation. Always verify the contractor in your state's online registry and the BBB before signing.
Late winter through early spring (typically February–April) is the cheapest time to schedule a Wisconsin roof replacement. Demand is lowest, crews have open calendars, and contractors often discount 5–15%. Avoid the August–October peak when storm-damage claims spike. Schedule before hail season starts in your area. Emergency repairs are available year-round.
Wisconsin requires a Dwelling Contractor Certification through the Department of Safety and Professional Services for residential work.
Given Wisconsin's humid continental climate, the most popular choices are architectural shingle, standing-seam metal. Local building practices, hail and wind risk, and snow load all factor in — your assigned local roofing contractor recommends the right system after a free inspection.
ice damming is the leading roof issue in Wisconsin, followed by snow load and wind uplift. Hail damage is a major insurance-claim driver here — Class 4 impact shingles are widely recommended.
Most Wisconsin homeowners get a written, itemized quote within one business hour of submitting our online form. Your assigned roofing professional schedules an in-home inspection within 2–3 business days, and active leaks get same-day emergency tarping in major metros.
The 25% Rule in roofing serves as a guideline for both homeowners and contractors when planning roofing projects. Basically, it means that if more than 25% of your roof's surface needs repairs, it's often wiser to contemplate a full replacement rather than patchwork.
Roof-Master matches you with a vetted Wisconsin licensed contractor in your zip within minutes.
