Kentucky climate
Kentucky roofs face specific climate stressors — humid subtropical conditions plus hail damage and wind uplift — that demand different specs than the state next door. Your assigned roofing contractor calibrates material, ventilation, and underlayment to local code and weather load.
| Metric | Kentucky average | Implication for your roof |
|---|---|---|
| Average annual snowfall | 14″ | Ice-and-water shield in eaves recommended; standard underlayment elsewhere. |
| Average annual rainfall | 48″ | Standard drip-edge + sealed valleys per IRC R905. |
| Hail risk | high | Class 4 impact-rated shingles qualify for hail-discount endorsements in Kentucky. |
| Hurricane / coastal wind | No | Standard wind-rated shingles (110 mph) cover inland conditions. |
For most Kentucky homes, architectural shingle and standing-seam metal are the two most-installed systems. Asphalt shingles remain the most affordable roofing option; standing-seam metal is the longest-lasting (40–70 years).
Roofing services
Roof-Master Kentucky installs and repairs every residential roof system — architectural shingle re-roofs, standing-seam metal, hail/wind storm restoration, leak repair, gutter installation, and Class 4 impact-rated upgrades — same network across all 87 Kentucky cities.
| Service | Typical SLA | Most-requested in |
|---|---|---|
| Free roof inspection | Same week | Statewide Kentucky |
| Storm-damage assessment + tarp | 24–48h | Louisville, Lexington |
| Roof repair (leaks, missing shingles, flashing) | 2–3 business days | Statewide Kentucky |
| Full re-roof (architectural shingle) | 1–3 days on-site | Statewide Kentucky |
| Standing-seam metal roof installation | 3–5 days on-site | Rural / agricultural areas |
| Gutter installation + gutter-guard upgrades | 1 day | Statewide Kentucky |
Each service has a dedicated page with pricing, named materials (GAF Timberline HDZ, CertainTeed Landmark, Owens Corning Duration), per-service FAQs, and a licensed local pro for every Kentucky zip code.

"Marlon Waters and the Modern Roofing Team did an amazing job on our new roof!! This is our third house needing a new roof, and Modern Roofing exceeded our expectations for the first time in all my previous experiences. I was very skeptical about a nice, clean job with no damage to our bushes and landscaping around the house, and they did not damage anything based on Marlon’s promises. Well done and thank you!!! Sincerely, Kurt and Miriam"

"I had my roof replaced back in early December. Masio Perez was my sales rep, and he did a great job letting me know what to expect. I have solar panels on my roof, and he made sure to let me know that they would be expertly removed before roof installation and properly put back after new roof installation. Masio informed me that the price would be higher because of the solar panel situation which was to be expected. Luckily, my insurance covered it so it wasn't a problem. Masio was great about staying in contact throughout the entire process. I also have a garage that has no sealing so unfortunately, wood chips fell into the garage during installation. This was expected, however, and I tarped the entire garage to minimize the mess. Masio was nice enough to come over to my house a day after the job to help with the clean up of the garage, and I can't thank him enough! I would definitely use this company again should I need a future roof replacement."

Before any contractor joins our Kentucky network we pull and verify:
Our regional ops team re-verifies every contractor's documentation every 12 months. We remove any contractor who fails re-verification from the network within 30 days. Network contractors are independent businesses, not employees of RoofPros USA.

If more than 25% of your shingles show storm damage, granule loss, lifting, or curling, full replacement usually beats patch repair on lifecycle cost. Kentucky insurance carriers also use this threshold — once 25% of a roof slope is damaged by a covered peril, most policies pay to replace the entire slope rather than repair it. The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) treats 25% as the standard repair-vs-replace inflection point.
For a typical 2,000 sq ft (≈22-square) Kentucky home with architectural shingle, plan on $12,600 including tear-off, decking inspection, ice-and-water shield, drip edge, and a manufacturer-registered warranty. Standing-seam metal runs roughly 2–3× that figure but lasts 40–70 years. Repair-only jobs run $380–$1,800 with $1,100 the average roofing-repair-project spend.
Five red flags every Kentucky homeowner should watch for: (1) door-knockers showing up after a storm with no local address, (2) demands for full payment upfront — standard deposit is 25–30% with the balance due after final inspection, (3) no written, itemized estimate with named materials and brand, (4) verbal "guarantee" instead of a written manufacturer + workmanship warranty, and (5) no proof of $1M+ general liability insurance and workers compensation. Always verify the contractor in your state's online registry and the BBB before signing.
Late winter through early spring (typically February–April) is the cheapest time to schedule a Kentucky roof replacement. Demand is lowest, crews have open calendars, and contractors often discount 5–15%. Avoid the August–October peak when storm-damage claims spike. Schedule before hail season starts in your area. Emergency repairs are available year-round.
Kentucky has no state roofing license. Cities including Louisville and Lexington require local registrations.
Given Kentucky's humid subtropical climate, the most popular choices are architectural shingle, standing-seam metal. Local building practices, hail and wind risk, and snow load all factor in — your assigned local roofing contractor recommends the right system after a free inspection.
hail damage is the leading roof issue in Kentucky, followed by wind uplift and ice damming (north). Hail damage is a major insurance-claim driver here — Class 4 impact shingles are widely recommended.
Most Kentucky homeowners get a written, itemized quote within one business hour of submitting our online form. Your assigned roofing professional schedules an in-home inspection within 2–3 business days, and active leaks get same-day emergency tarping in major metros.
The 25% Rule in roofing serves as a guideline for both homeowners and contractors when planning roofing projects. Basically, it means that if more than 25% of your roof's surface needs repairs, it's often wiser to contemplate a full replacement rather than patchwork.
The average cost of a new roof in Kentucky is $7,372, with most projects ranging from $5,789–$17,656. Asphalt shingles are the most budget-friendly material in the state at $4.67 per square foot, while slate roofs can cost up to $14.23 per square foot.
Fall is considered the best time to schedule a roofing project because it often boasts the best temperature range for roof installation. The weather has cooled off from summer highs, but it hasn't gotten too cold yet.
Roof-Master matches you with a vetted Kentucky licensed contractor in your zip within minutes.
