Billings sits in Yellowstone County in Montana\'s west region, where semi-arid to alpine weather and snow load drive most of the roof issues we see. Our local contractors know the standing-seam metal systems that hold up here, the ventilation specs the Yellowstone County inspectors want to see, and the insurance carriers that actually pay claims fairly.
Given Billings\'s climate exposure, our pros most often recommend standing-seam metal or architectural shingle for residential work. Hail risk is significant here, so Class 4 impact-rated shingles or stone-coated metal often pay back through insurance discounts of 5–25%.
Montana requires a Construction Contractor Registration with the Department of Labor for any work over $2,500.

"Dan & Alli, (owners), Anthony (project manager), Nino (crew foreman) & John Hall, our go to guy on our new roof project were awesome people to work with. They all paid attention to detail & answered all of our questions in a timely fashion. A special shout out to John Hall as he seen us through the entirety of this job. His communication was top notch! From 7:00 am to 8:00 am the old roof was removed & the new roof installed & completed by 3:00 the same day. The clean up was great! We were amazed at their workmanship, professional attitude & kindness. We recommend Mountain Roofing to ANYONE needing a new roof or roof repair.! Stellar people to say the least!!"

"The Mountain Roofing crew totally replaced my roof today (8/15). They were here early and at 1.5 hours had the roof completely stripped of the old shingles. By 1 pm the job was completed and they started the clean up process. Went through my yard and the adjoining yard to pickup debris. They then went over the whole area with magnets to get the loose nails. This crew went out of their way to do a complete job. The foreman was fun to talk with and listen to any question that I had during the process. If you want a great job pick- Mountain Roofing crew! Ben Bouley"

"The team at Mountain Roofing is great to work with. The office staff was able to get me a quote quickly and gave me honest feed back on what products to select without trying to sell me more expensive products I didn't need. The crew that installed our roof was very good to work with too. They worked around the weather and got us roofed before it was to cold. The workmanship was amazing and fast. We had a very bad wind storm and Dan came to our house just to check up on it without me calling them. They really care about their work and the relationships the have with their customers. I would highly recommend for a quality roof job."

Most Billings homeowners pay $8,500–$28,000 for a full residential replacement and $400–$2,000 for typical repairs. Pricing in Montana's semi-arid to alpine climate trends higher because impact-rated materials are commonly required or insurance-incentivized. We provide three written quotes so you see your options.
Every contractor we send to Billings carries the licensing required by Montana and Yellowstone County, plus $1M+ liability insurance and full workers comp. Montana requires a Construction Contractor Registration with the Department of Labor for any work over $2,500.
For Billings's climate (semi-arid to alpine, with snow load as a common concern), the most popular materials are standing-seam metal, architectural shingle. We assess your specific home's pitch, ventilation, and structure before recommending.
