Cumberland Hill sits in Providence County in Rhode Island\'s northeast region, where humid continental weather and nor'easter wind drive most of the roof issues we see. Our local contractors know the architectural shingle systems that hold up here, the ventilation specs the Providence County inspectors want to see, and the insurance carriers that actually pay claims fairly.
Given Cumberland Hill\'s climate exposure, our pros most often recommend architectural shingle or slate for residential work. Coastal exposure means high-wind shingles (130 mph rated) and proper deck-to-rafter fastening are non-negotiable.
Rhode Island requires Contractors' Registration and Licensing Board (CRLB) registration for any home improvement work.
Every service below is available throughout Cumberland Hill and the surrounding Providence County area.
80% of US homes wear asphalt shingles for a reason — affordability, broad style range, and easy repair. The difference is in installation quality.

"I don't normally gush about businesses, but when I get service and quality like I got with Valley Roofing, I make an exception. There's a bit of a backstory with this roofing project... Last year, in the autumn of 2024, I had someone come by from another roofing company. (I'll leave the name out because they've already been reviewed by me, and it wasn't pretty.) This guy arrived at my house at 6:30pm on a weeknight, and he had a presentation so big it barely fit on our 6-seat dining room table. It was nice, but a bit of overkill. But after 90 minutes...NINETY MINUTES...it was time for this guy to get to a bottom line, and when he did, I simply laughed. He boldly told me that they could do my roof (about a 30 square roof in size) for $69,000. However, if I acted TODAY, that cost would drop to $41,000. I'm a pastor. I have a LOT of people in my home in a given year, and in all my time in ministry, I have NEVER thrown a single person out of my home. However, for this guy, I gladly made an exception. Yet, even in spite of my requests for him to leave ("OK, you can't do $41,000...what can you do?") as it took me threatening to take his stuff and dump it in my trash for him to get the picture...I literally had to pick up one of his display boards and start walking outside with it. This was even after my wife told the guy that she had to put our kids to bed and asked him to leave as well. It was, in a word, an AWFUL experience. Shocked by that drama, we decided to wait through the winter, while I shopped around looking for someone who had decent reviews. That's when I came across Valley. Actually, it was a I previous review from someone up in Ludlow who had a similar experience to mine, and I reached out asking why they went with Valley. When Tom Morin came to my house in the late spring, it was like a breath of fresh air. We chatted about the roof, and I told him what I was looking for. But our conversation was also about life stuff, and I realized that I had found someone who was trying to make an honest living, who loves his family, and his work. It was a positive experience (and he didn't even need a display board! Hahaha!) Even better, the price I got for this work was the price that was quoted, and it was less than HALF of what the other company was scamming me for. What's more, Tom threw me a veteran's discount, which was very appreciated. Yesterday, we had the roof done. The crew that came were some of the hardest workers I've ever seen. They arrived at 7am and stayed all the way to 8:30pm, getting a 30 square roof done in JUST ONE DAY!!! The guys and gals working on the project were kind (there was something of a language barrier, but my minimal knowledge of spanish was helpful!), and the clean-up looks like nobody was even here! Luis, the onsite foreman for the job, made sure that the work was done well and that things moved along throughout the day smoothly. He even came back this morning to check for any remaining things on the property, and brought the magnetic nail pick-up box just to be sure (as it was getting dark about the time they left). This was, from estimate to completion, one of the best experiences I've had with ANY company. Not only was Tom and Luis awesome, but Michelle, Tom's wife, was amazing. Her correspondences were timely (even though mine weren't), she was professional, and she genuinely cared about the experience we were having with them. I'm grateful to her as well! You can go with other roofing companies around here who might do a good job. As far as I'm concerned, however, there's only one company I'm going to use or recommend in the future, and that's Valley Roofing and Restoration."

"Valley Roofing and Restoration did an outstanding job on my new roof! This was a large project with some complications, but Tommy, Michelle, and their crew handled everything with absolute professionalism and ease. The entire team worked like a well-oiled machine—efficient, organized, and incredibly thorough. They kept the job site clean, respected my property, and delivered top-quality workmanship from start to finish. I couldn’t be happier with the results and highly recommend them to anyone in need of roofing services!"

"Michelle and Tom were a pleasure to work with. So communicative, informative, and professional through all phases of the work. Tom was on site to introduce the work crew and made himself available throughout the day and returned the next morning to make sure all went well. Foreman Louis and the work crew were amazing, hard-working, politie, and careful in their work and clean-up. They were efficient, worked great as a team, and got the job done in no time. I highly recommend Valley Roofing and Restoration."
